Not things to see . Things to live .

Eight ways to stop being a tourist and start being a traveler. From a grandmother’s kitchen in Parvati Valley to a monk’s breakfast in Pai — every experience here is real, bookable, and led by the person who actually lives it. No scripts. No performances. No tour buses.

the people who

Other sites sell tours . We share the moments that change how you travel forever.

A "travel experience" on most websites is a scripted performance— a staged cultural show, a curated photo spot, a guide who’s given the same lecture 2,000 times. It’s travel as theater, with you as the audience.

Our experiences are the opposite. They’re quiet, imperfect, and uncurated. A homestay host who forgets a detail and then insists on showing you her grandmother’s recipe notebook. A trek guide who grew up on that trail, not one trained for it. A monastery breakfast where the monks are actuallydoing their morning prayers, not waiting for your camera.

This is travel as it was before Instagram. And once you've done it, the other kind feels embarrassingly hollow.

Three days inside a Himachali farmhouse where nothing happens. And yet — everything does.

You wake up to cows. You learn siddu with Asha Ji. You walk to the river after lunch. In the evening her grandson plays a flute he carved himself. No wifi. No schedule. You return home changed and can’t quite explain why.

Eight ways to travel that'll
ruin the ordinary kind
forever.

first flush, may
the toy train

01

Sleep where the stories
live.

not a hotel. a home.

Hotels rent you a room. Homestays give you a family. You’ll share dinner with people who’ve lived in that valley for four generations, hear the stories their grandparents told, learn to make the dal that’s been in the family for a century. The room isn’t the experience. The people are.

Vetted in person.

Every host is someone we've actually eaten with, not a listing we scraped off Booking.com.

Transparent pricing.

₹1,200–₹2,800 a night including all meals. No resort fees, no sneaky add-ons, no commission games.

They remember you.

68% of our homestay travelers keep in touch with their host after the trip. This is our favorite metric.

02

Eat like you belong
there.

restaurants are for tourists.

Every region hides its best food from visitors. Thukpa at 5am in a Darjeeling bakery that doesn’t have a name. Siddu from a Parvati kitchen that’s been steaming since 1962. Bhang ki chutney passed down by five generations in Garhwal. You don’t need a restaurant. You need an introduction.

Cook what they cook.

Not a commercial "cooking class" — a grandmother's kitchen, her own notebook, her own stove.

6 culinary regions.

North Bengal, Himachal, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, plus Vietnam and Thailand's interior.

Take the recipes home.

We'll send you a photo of the original handwritten recipe. You'll mess it up the first time. That's fine.

03

Be there when it matters.

dates that don’t show up in ads.

Tourism boards advertise Holi and Diwali. We plan around Losar in Sikkim, Nanda Devi Jat in Uttarakhand, Kullu Dussehra in Himachal, and the village pujas that only the villagers know about. A festival you’ve read about is a fact. A festival you’ve lived is a memory.

12 festivals, mapped to the calendar.

We'll tell you 6 months ahead of time so you can actually plan.

Welcomed, not gawked at.

You'll arrive with a local family, wear what they wear, eat what they eat.

No performances.

These aren't tourist shows. They're village life. Please don't bring a selfie stick.

04

Walk where the trails
begin to forget you.

the mountain doesn’t care about your step count.

Everyone treks Sandakphu, Kheerganga, Triund. Fine. But there are seventeen other trails we’d rather you knew — the ones where your boots leave the first prints of the season, where the only traffic jam is a shepherd and 80 sheep. Guides who grew up on these trails, not instructors who trained for them.

22 trails — 17 of them uncrowded.

And we intentionally don't share the GPS files for 5 of them. Sorry not sorry.

Sandakphu, Har Ki Dun, Roopkund, Kheerganga —

plus Brahmatal, Valley of Flowers, and the really quiet ones.

Real safety, not checkbox safety.

Certified guides, acclimatisation days built in, evacuation insurance included.

05

Stay longer. Notice more.

7 cities in 10 days is a nervous breakdown.

Modern travel is a checklist with a passport. Slow travel is the opposite — one village, two weeks, and you start to understand how the light falls at 4pm. How the baker arrives at 6:10 like clockwork. Whose dog is whose. You can’t photograph knowing a place. You can only live it.

7–21 day trips.

One or two places. Enough space to get bored — which is where noticing starts.

Built-in nothing days.

Every slow itinerary has 30% unscheduled time. You'll fill it better than we could.

Monthly prices available.

Many of our slow-travel homestays offer 28-day rates starting at ₹18,000 including meals.

06

When walking isn't
enough.

six sports. verified operators. real insurance.

Rafting, paragliding, bungee, skiing, Himalayan cycling, and high-altitude treks — booked with the operators we’ve personally used, not the ones that pay Google the most. Your first jump is terrifying. Your second is courage. The story will outlive your next seventeen selfies combined.

We've done every one of these ourselves.

If we wouldn't send our little sister, we don't list it.

Insurance built in.

Not an "optional add-on" that you forget to click. It's included. Always.

Small batches.

Paragliding capped at 6 per day. River rafting at 8. No cattle-truck adventure.

07

Luxury that actually means something.

not five-star. one-of-one.

Big chains sell you a suite. We book heritage tea estate bungalows where the Raj once drank gin, private Himalayan cottages with your own chef, boutique desert camps in the UAE that actually feel like the desert. This isn’t luxury for Instagram. It’s luxury for actually being there.

12 curated properties.

Each one hand-inspected. None belongs to a hotel chain.

Private chef, private transfers, private everything.

Without the corporate stiffness.

The access you can't buy online.

Tea plantation walks, monastery private viewings, after-hours museum visits.

08

A desk. A mountain. Real
wifi.

we speed-test every café. quarterly.

Every “workation” property promises “high-speed wifi.” About 40% of them lie. We’ve been there. We got annoyed. So we built a directory of actually tested cafés and homestays — with timestamped screenshots, uptime logs, and backup locations within 2km. Because you shouldn’t have to choose between a Zoom call and a view.

47 wifi-verified spots

across Himachal, Uttarakhand, North Bengal and Sikkim. Re-tested every 90 days.

Power backup confirmed.

Not every village has it. We mark the ones that do.

Monthly stays from ₹22,000 —

that's cheaper than your coworking membership. And the view is free.

The homestay in Tirthan was booked by Asha Ji herself. She taught me to make siddu. Three months later I still send her photos of my cooking. This isn’t travel. It’s collecting people.”

Festival
twice

One experience is good.
Stack three and it becomes
a trip.

Most travelers mix and match. A homestay paired with a cuisine trail. A trek that ends at a festival. A workation that bolts on a weekend of paragliding. Here are the three stacks our travelers book most.

The full North Bengal stack

Heritage homestay, tea-trail cuisine, Sandakphu trek. The single trip that covers everything people go to Darjeeling for — and the five things they miss.

Questions before the questions.

We’ve answered hundreds of these on WhatsApp at 11pm. Here are the ones that matter. If yours isn’t here, the reply button on our chat is two taps away.

How do I know the homestays and guides are actually authentic?

Short answer: we’ve personally stayed at every homestay and done every trail before we listed it. No exceptions.

Long answer: each host is in our WhatsApp groups, we re-visit the properties every 9–12 months, and 68% of our travelers stay in touch with their host after the trip. If a host doesn’t live up to what we wrote, we don’t just refund — we delist.

Yes — and most travelers do. Check the “better together” stacks above for our top three combinations, or use our custom itinerary service (from ₹1,500) and we’ll build a trip that layers whichever experiences you want.

Full refund up to 30 days before. 70% between 30–15 days. 30% between 15–7 days. Under 7 days — we hold your booking as credit for up to 12 months. We’re small and we won’t penalise you unfairly.

Several of them are built specifically for solo women — the Uttarakhand stack, for example, uses only female-run homestays and includes our local guardian network (a verified contact in every town you visit).

We’ve hosted 186 solo women travelers in the last 18 months. Zero incidents. We take this seriously.

Festivals and adventure sports: 3–6 months ahead (Losar and Manali–Leh cycling sell out 9 months in advance).

Homestays and workation stays: 4–8 weeks ahead, longer in peak season (Oct–Feb, Apr–Jun).

Custom itineraries: Minimum 2 weeks notice, though we’ve turned one around in 5 days for an emergency honeymoon once.

Yes. Every booking includes a free 20-minute WhatsApp or voice call where we walk you through the plan, answer questions, and recommend changes based on your travel style. No pushy sales scripts — our average call length is about 12 minutes.

so, one last question —

When was the last time
a trip changed you?

If you have to think about it, you’re overdue. Pick any one experience above, tell us what you’re dreaming of, and we’ll build the rest around you. 48 hours. Real humans. No generic tours.
